PROJECT SUBJECT: Aida is a socio traditional evil spread in our area to kill innocent wild life like rabbit, titar, bater etc. In this malactivity, a large group of the people of the area go into neighboring Forest area of Aravali Range. They all freely hunt the animals as a game on the occasion of Indian festival of colours?Holi?. This free hunting moves on 15 days from Holi in Aravali Magra area in part of Ajmer, Rajsamand and pali district. PROJECT !--object--IVES: To protect wild life To increase bio-diversity To protect forest. To save crops and farms To check social traditional evil. PROJECT RESEARCH: Aida is a social tradition practiced as a game in the month of March at the occasion of Holi festival. A large group of the people of the area goes into neighboring Forest area of Aravali Range to kill small animals by sticks, stones, axes for meat. . This free hunting moves on 15 days from Holi. At this time the farmlands has standing Rabi Crop (wheat, gram, barley etc.) which is ready for harvesting. Wild animals run into the fields for safety. But the crowd enters in the fields to hunt the animals and thus also destroys the ripen crops. In this way thousands of animals are killed directly and others as plants and their dependents are badly affected by this activity. PROJECT ACTION PLAN: ? Inform to the Dist. Collectors, S D M, Police and Department of Forest. ? Contact the village sarpanch and social workers and motivate farmers and other localities to check this traditional evil. Sharing information about the impacts and demerits of Aida and the need to protest the Aida. ? Use of multi media approach on Holi like to give appeal in the newspapers ? Distribute/ stick posters and stickers to stop this activity ? Sharing the steps and this project though participation in related events PROJECT RESULTS: We have happy to be able to save lives of about 12000 wild animals by stopping Aida in about 50 villages. We have succeed to aware the people, high authorities, forest department and media and attract there attention on utmost urgency to ban the socio-traditional evil. People have started thinking about it and t hey realize that this activity is making them uncivilized and backward in this modern era. ? By this action plan, we have saved the valuable Rabi crop from a great destroy.
