In the age of technology, chargers occupy a very important part of our lives. We charge our Printers, laptops, hair trimmers, Ipod chargers, small radios, etc all the time. And then enjoy the ease they provide us with their wonderful battery life.

But observe around your house, how many chargers have been left plugged in? How many of you pull out the device you are charging and royally forget the charger. And also, how many places have you pulled out the charger and still left the switch on lighting the led near it? (picture below)

We do these things unknowingly, without realizing how much of electricity we end up consuming for no good reason at all. Let?s understand what happens when you leave the charger plugged in.

The transformer in a charger uses electricity whether the phone is charging or not!! The average power useage can be around 3 watts. (That's 3 watts per hour.) 3 time 24 is your daily waste in electricity. (72 watts per day.) Most homes have several transformers plugged in all the time. Printers, laptops, hair trimmers, Ipod chargers, small radios, etc. These add up, and can cost you over 1000 watts per month!!

And in addition to that, the cost the environment has to pay is something we all understand. The amount of fossil fuels that need to be burned to compensate for this electricity usage and the amount of greenhouse gases that are released is a cause of concern.

By keeping this fact in mind and consciously making sure we don?t do such things, we can contribute fixing these small leaks in our lives that are drowning our planet. So the nest time you use a charger, remember to Switch Off AND Plug Out!
