Leo Library Project : Turn The Page

by | 27-02-2016 13:15 recommendations 0

Greetings From Nepal

Why Leo Library Project:
Its said Books is man?s best friend. But how does it feel to never meet our friends. Harsh reality of the world is There are still children who barely see a book and without having them enter to adult life. And yet there are still many of us with books in our racks that have not been read for years, that we no longer use, that we no longer value. Isn't this amazing to know how the books that are discarded with time, we thought no value and we let it dusted can still give enormous pleasure to these children. The joy and happiness they show inadvertently while holding the books, turning the pages and gasping every words reading out loud are purely bliss of heaven. So why not to make these children meet their best friend. So why not to come forward and donate them book? Why to be reluctant in enlightening them? Isn?t this fantastic you could be a reason for their happiness. If yes, come and join our Leo Library Project "TURN THE PAGE". Helps us to collect books for these children to establish library for them.

Project:

Leo Club of Chitwan Central (of which I am secretary) and our twin club Leo Club of Nawala Metro organised Leo Library : Turn The Page project with theme "Educate the Kids, Inspire the community".  (Twin club in Leos is one of the best aspect of internationalising community and increasing the transbounday bond)

The program was launched simultaneously at Nepal and Sri Lanka where we donated books, gifts and some sports materials.

In Nepal, first phase of the program was launched at Navodaya School which is cent percent Chepang School. (Chepang are one of the most vulnerable indigenous community of Nepal with population being only few thousand). We donated sports materials as a part of our project. We were warmly welcomed by Principle, Teachers  and beautiful students. We also got a chance to enjoy beautiful song in Chepang Language sang by students.

As new session begin at  mid of April, we will donate books to children at beginning of the academic session.

We are open to all those helping hands. You can help us through the fund, through sharing of our project to right person or through donation of books and gifts. Because our small action sometime can be a source of great pleasure to children.

We are collecting books both related to curriculum and literature or novel alike with a belief that this can bring over all development in the life of these children through knowledge. Is not this amazing way to reuse of source of knowledge.

Donating books is a ideal way to promote reading. Thanks for the post, Rahul & congrats for this new initiative by Leo Club of Chitwan Central, Nepal. Here in UAE also we regularly Donate & Exchange books. Incidentally, I'm carrying on a drive named 'Pick n Drop Books' that has been immensely successful since pats one year.
