Entry to the four-day event is kept free. The grounds of the Sharjah Aquarium in Al Khan area, where Sharjah Museums Department (SMD) has organised the show, have filled up with stage shows, food trucks and activities stalls, besides a seabed-themed central arena. It is created to experience what it?s like to live under the waves with a carnival dedicated to all things fishy. The outdoor area around Sharjah Aquarium becomes a virtual ocean with marine-inspired live performances, workshops, visual displays and interactive learning experiences for the whole family. Life-size models of everything from sharks to seahorses have been set up to reinforce the aquatic ambience, together with green-blue mood lighting and sound effects. It is an is an excellent show and an effort by SMD to bring together the people of Sharjah to celebrate our precious marine ecosystem. As a coastal city, the sea is such an important part of our history and heritage, yet so few of us have experienced the breathtaking beauty and diversity of what lives underwater. SMD wanted to bring the atmosphere of this underwater world to children and their families to enjoy and learn. For carnival visitors looking to learn more about the sea, Sharjah Aquarium itself offers a diverse mix of sea creatures in 20 tanks. All the exhibited marine creatures are native to the UAE and Gulf waters. They are caught in the wild and released after some time. Source : Gulf News , Sharjah Museums Department |
