Non-birders may question why bird conservation is important and what difference it makes to the world at large. Avid birders and bird watchers know, however, that bird and wildlife conservation is critical to the richness and diversity of the planet we share with more than 10,000 species of birds.
When Barbara Kingsolver (Author, Flight Behavior) was asked the question why birds matter, he replied in a very interesting way:
?Why do birds matter? It's a funny question. Imagine asking a cardinal, "Why do humans matter?" He would sing if he could, from the top of a telephone pole, "They don't! Not at all! Look at me!" Every species basically thinks we're the real one, and all others are food or set decoration. If you could step back and register all our noise at once, you might get a glimpse of the real deal: life on earth.?
It?s interesting how a little thought can put things into perspective. And it is exactly why we need to keep reminding ourselves how important other life forms actually are!
Birds are important because they have many contributions to make to our ecosystem. They distribute seeds and pollinate flowers. Birds are also carnivores and help keep the Earth clean.
Birds are the greatest indicators of climate change. Their behaviour and disappearance can help us in evaluating the dangers to the environment. This cannot be done by humans. That is a reason why birds were increasingly used in science and still being used.
Insect outbreaks are reduced with the existence of birds. This is true with respect to maintain the insect population in forest and the urban habitat.
Some birds are important pollinators. Some trees will not spread out unless they are pollinated by birds. Not all trees can be planted by humans. There are some birds whose seeds will sprout only if dispersed by birds.
Other than their environmental resourcefulness, they are family...living in the same house as us, and their exceptional beauty just adds to the reason we should love them and let them live. Above are just a few examples of importance of birds in our environment. There are more to why we should save birds, the most important being the predictor of natural disasters and the contribution to birds to science.
Look at the picture below?it has birds that we will never be able to see again in real life, up close or in their natural habitats. They leave behind only memories in forms of fossil and pictures. Even though it looks beautiful, I wouldn?t like to add even one more bird to the picture below, a picture of birds that are dying...would you?
Let us save the birds before we come to a stage where we are in an urge to save the last few birds existing.

Thanks for sharing Simran. Each one of us including the flora and fauna on the Earth contributes equally to the rich biodiversity of our planet and thus is equally important.
