Planned future initiatives like the biggest solar energy farm in Dubai, the Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum Solar Park, and setting up of solar panels on the roofs of every home in the emirate make the UAE increasingly dedicated towards reduction of fossil fuel dependence.
Backed by a US$25 billion federal investment by 2021 in renewables - mainly solar energy - the UAE has much to lose if the rollout isn?t effectively deployed.
The workshop attracted engineers and policy makers from around the region and at the same time, aimed to implement the best of measures on the different variety of organisations, companies and firms which are involved in growth and development of solar energy facilities. Some other elements involved the installation of sensors to determine dust volume, time-to-time cleaning of panels and utilising a coating that provides protection to the panels from dirt, dust and grease. Clean Energy presently provides 0.2 per cent of the country?s energy supply. The UAE government is also researching ways to boost this to 24 per cent by 2021.
The UAE is dedicated to maintaining the growth and development of renewable energy solutions, and has taken stringent measures to transform the energy sector to rely on clean, green and sustainable energy.

Manav, Thanks for letting us know about the solar energy in your country! Just like Minjoo said up there, unlike the difficulties the middle eastern countries have to bare in terms of air pollution, i guess in this area they can have take some advantage! :D Since you talked about the industry, i hope to read details about the regional players in the market next time! Oh and by the way, when you copy and paste a photo, please make sure to put reference of the site! Thanks a lot for writing!

Wow! It's great to know that people are taking action to sustain the use of renewable energy! Hope such workshops can happen here in the Philippines but a lot of funds would be needed to go into the solar panels. Thank you for the report!

Manav, though there might be climate problems when the country has sunlight for almost every day, on the other hand this may also be a critical chance for UAE to develop its solar energy. There are some countries that would like to promote technological development but cannot due to regional factors. From your article I can assume UAE is being serious for searching renewable energy as soon as possible. Thanks for posting, and keep up the good work!

Workshops like this, Exhibitions and Summits like WFES(Abu Dhabi), Global energy prize by UAE government etc are all evidences that UAE is very serious about renewable energy future. Thanks for sharing.

Hello Manav. It is amazing to know that authorities in Dubai are taking initiatives to not only create awareness of sustainable energy but also implementing them as well. The federal investment will have a massive impact on the energy sector and hopefully in the future renewable energy will be as cost effective as traditional nonrenewable energy sources. Nice report :)
