The edible cutlery is on hype these days.
Many restaurants are now seriving their food in the edible cutlery.

KFC india has also joined the list .
After the complete ban of plastic products in Karnataka , KFC announced that they would be serving their food in edible bowls .

The bowls  made of tortillas would replace the plastic ones.

"As a socially and environmentally responsible company, we are working to find a cost-effective and sustainable long-term solution that can replace plastics.  One of the things that we are experimenting with is the edible Rice Bowlz– an innovative and delicious solution that replaces the plastic bowl packaging with a Tortilla bowl. Rice Bowlz are amongst our best-selling menu items, and we are trying to give it a delicious and eco-friendly twist." said Rahul Shinde, the Managing Director of KFC India

This new way of serving food may motivate many other fooding brands to do the same ,
which will reduce a certain amout of plastic usage and waste.

The bowls were also tested at selected outlets of KFC in Bengluru (karnataka) from april 28-may4.
And the company now is adopting it at the long run.

Tanverjit, thanks for posting! I visited India with my family years ago, and i remember eco-friendly tsai(milk tea) tea cups, made of mud! The locals just threw them away after drinking but my mom loved them so much and brought several back home! I guess one of the reasons for using mud tea cups was because it cuts the cost, and on the same line I guess KFC would be able to take the benefit as well! thanks!

Tanverjit, amazed to know there are edible bowls in KFC. I believe this has been implemented only in a few nations I also have never seen one. However, since KFC's plastic bowls are reuseable(they are not disposed once it is used, it can used over again), and edible bowls can also become food waste if not eaten, I believe it could come up with other problems. I hope the policy could gain more success if disposable plastics could be replaced with edible ones. Anyways, keep up the good work and have a wonderful way!

Thank you for the report! Sadly, here in Manila, I haven't seen any edible bowls yet, but I believe that what KFC in India has done is very successful as many people go to fast food chains. Those should be the main target as well.
