Indonesia Biodiversity

Hello! Sorry for one-day late post! Anyway, tonight I will share about Indonesia's Biodiversity and How Climate Change affects it.

Since the very beginning, like when I was 10 years old, I was told that Indonesia is the second largest biodiversity in the world. At least there are thousands species-ish for flora and fauna in Indonesia. Here's the example of Biodiversity in Indonesia. Unfortunately, several factors such as Climate Change and Deforestation can affect the Biodiversity. FYI, as a fourth-largest GHG emitters, 85% of its GHG was a result from deforestation and land-use change (WRI, 2002). Indonesia forest itself is extremely high-level biodiversity, in which, supporting livelihood and ecosystem services. These Biodiversity are extremely vulnerable with Climate Change that's affect the daily weather, climate, uncertainty rainfall, hotter surface and sea surface temperature (SST), etc.

Indonesia's Facts:

1. Indonesia is part of 1.3% of the world
2. Having 10% of Flora species
3. Having 12% of Mammals species
4. Having 16% of Reptiles species
5. Having 17% of Fowls species
6. Having 25% of Fish species
7. Indonesia is having "Mega Biodiversity", which means, Indonesia's having 90 type of Ecosystems.
8. Located in Tropical Area, between 2 continents (Asia-Australia), 2 oceans (Hindia-Pacific), and 3 tectonic plates (Pacific-Eurasia-Australia)
9. Having more than 300 ethnics, 700 languages and dialects.

These Biodiversity have been providing us

1. Foods and Shelters

Food

2. Foods diversity, which is leading us having Food security

Food

3. Diversity of Herbs!

Herbs

4. Roots for Herbal Medicines!

Herbs

5. Source of Fibers and Natural Dyes

Dyes

6. Source of Alternative Energy!

Energy

7. Affect and Support the Biodiversity of Cultures and Economical sectors

Mind Maps of Climate Change Impacts

As we know, this is the Climate Change impacts mind maps:

Impacts

As you can see, it's going to lead us for affecting our Earth Biodiversity, especially Indonesia.

Impacts

As you can see, it could make world hunger due to Crop failure issues that's going to happen frequently because of Global Warming.

And YES, it's going to affect our Biodiversity because of Global Warming can lead us to the change of Flora and Fauna's breeding time which is disrupting its food chain's equilibrium.

Breeding

So, seeing all of these Issues, we need to ACT on CLIMATE for tackling Climate Change a.s.a.p. Simply changes such as:

1. No-Wasting Foods!
2. Reforestation and Plant more Corals!
3. Cycling or Walking instead of Driving!
4. Using Renewable Energy!
5. Using Alternative Energy!
6. Be wiser for using Energy!
7. Upgrade your efficiency!

And ..... etc!

Because #SmallActMatters when we do it TOGETHER!

Wow Muhammad, I have never known Indonesia is so rich at the diversity of plants and animals. Having more than 700 languages and dialects also amazes me I guess Indonesia is not only rich in biodiversity, but also in human factors. Interesting to know more about your nation Muhammad. I really enjoyed reading it!

Indonesia is, no doubt, rich in biodiversity. It is quite vulnerable to climate change so it's important that we adopt eco-friendly lifestyle and all that matters to mitigate climate change in order to protect and conserve biodiversity. Thanks for a structured report supported by beautiful pics.

Thank you for the very informative report and I never knew that Indonesia has the world's second largest biodiversity! Caring for the environment especially in relation to renewable or sustainable energies have to be mandated to preserve the beauties of the natural environment.
