A total of 18 hospitals in Indonesia joined the assessment of PROPER few times ago.

PROPER (Program Penilaian Peringkat Kinerja Perusahaan) is an award in the environmental field for companies that constitute the work program of Kementrian Lingkungan Hidup (or Ministry of Environment). PROPER has several levels, from the lowest namely black, red, blue, green, and gold. Black PROPER is the lowest rank and given to companies that violates or do not have permission. While gold is the highest level and obtained if the total score exceeds 75%.

PROPER assessment is focused on the processing operations and waste generated so it not brings negative impact to the community. At the hospital, the waste generated is very diverse, range from domestic sewage in the room lodging and canteen, laboratory wastes, as well as hazardous waste from operations.

At the Pupuk Kaltim Hospital (RS PKT), for example, get gold PROPER this year. For the processing of waste produced, they using the incinerator. Incinerator is used for managing such waste from the former operation were classified as infectious hazardous waste.

Hopefully, by the votes of this PROPER, hospitals and companies also participated in protecting the environment.
