The World Environment Day is celebrated all over the world on 05th Jun of each year. The UAE is always geared up with various eco-drives and it is pioneer nation in the world to introduce & implement various conservation drives. Each year, without fail I organize, conduct & participate in various programmes where we show our care towards The Mother Earth and also motivate many others to join & volunteer with their contribution. Drops make an ocean and each & every action counts. This is a simple proverb but it hold good standing. Few weeks ago I met a person who was very enthusiastic about caring for nature. He lived in a villa in Sharjah & had a big space to plant approx. 40 trees. He gave me permission to plant the trees in his villa. Inspired by my nation & through my initiative ?Serve The Earth? I decided to introduce this as a project for The World Environment Day. The reason for this action has multi-dimensional benefits. The tress will provide oxygen for years to come. The residents of the villa were immensely enthusiastic about planting & subsequent caring for the young plants. The trees & resultant greenery will provide fruits & shade from blazing sun in summer months. The foremost benefit is the neighbors will be motivated to plant trees in their respective villas & the area will be greener forever. I named my project as ?A Treet for the Planet?. Trees are the soul of this planet & planting more trees is a treat for the soul. Thus, the name. As soon as it was posted on the social media the registrations were overwhelming and our planned 40 trees were grabbed in 2 days of the posting of the event. Exactly at 05:30 in the evening the villa was swarmed by the beaming children of all ages accompanied by their supportive parents. The daughter of the villa resident has made excellent placards depicting the name of participant & the tress. Children collected their respective placards and rushed towards pits where the 5 feet tall young plants were waiting to be planted & grown into fruit & shade bearing trees. There were Date Palm, Avacodo, Mango, Lemon & Plenty of Neem Trees eager to be planted. I was amazed by the zeal & zest of the kids ranging from a First Grader to the senior school students. All were wearing green dresses depicting their dedication. Soon the pits were filled with manure, frail plants & fertile soil. Now it was time to water the plants. A hose pipe was arranged & all the plants were carefully watered by them. We took extra care not to waste the water. Subsequently, I addressed the gathering and we took The Earth Day pledge. Then I introduced them with an amazing online networking platform, Tunza Eco- Generation based in South Korea, whom I am a proud ambassador since past many years. I distributed promotional material sent by them in order to spread awareness & encouraged them to join this social networking environmental website. Such platforms are essential to spread awareness, share your eco-reports, discuss & decide on various drives to take care of the environment. The Global warming is affecting each & every nook & corner of our planet & planting trees is one of the very important method to curb the menace. This is very important in view of the fact that millions of trees are cut every day. Let?s take pledge to gift a plant for mother earth at least on world environment day every year so that we may live a green life. |

Dear Adam, you've rightly commented, each day is earth day & environment conservation is ongoing activity. I urge you to perform similar activity at your educational institution in Manila.
It'll be great fun & conservation

Thank you, Rohan for the follow up on your action to help save our world! Clearly, you had a lot of fun and to be honest, I wish I could have been there as well! I found that even if you do these kinds of actions on special days such as WED, we should continue to do this everyday. With your passion, you'll have no problem! Thank you for the report!

Dear Heonjum, The owner of the villa has to care for the trees for life. They have arranged for sprinkler system for watering. The mobilisation of volunteers was very easy. we had to stop the registrations & my brother has to sacrifice his tree for another enthusiastic student. It was a good effort for conservation.
Thanks for your usual warm comments.

Stunning Rohan! How generous they are, the owner of the villa, to provide place for trees. (Or should it be called a mutual benefit? haha) And it's also impressive, especially notable in the photos, how many people you could mobilize for the work! I'm glad to see the way you inspire your surroundings. Thanks for writing and sharing! have a good day!
