DEWA's Campaigns for Environmental Awareness |

||Dubai|| Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) is carrying out various community campaigns to promote rational consumption of electricity and water in the city . 69 awareness campaigns and over 2300 visits to industrial, educational, commercial, and industrial organisations were organised last year and the same is being continued this year too .The motive of all this is to check the proper use of electricity and water, avoid the wastage of natural resources , enhance sustainability, and ensures a clean and healthy environment. There awareness campaigns would play a vital role for Dubai Plan 2021 which is to transform the city into a smart city with more sustainability and less pollution . Campaign such as 'Change Begins with Us? helped to create awareness among the residents of the city to reduce the pollution and carbon footprints and shift to the sustainable ways of living. The campaign encouraged the residents to limit the usage of heavy electric appliances during the peak hours (12-6pm) so as to reduce the pressure on electricity and power industry , such helps in improving the efficiency and reliability of the transmission and distribution networks and helps reduce the amount of fuel needed to produce energy .The campaign was promoted at various malls , govt departments etc. Campaigns like this further supports Dewa?s efforts to reduce the pollution and carbon footprints and maitain neat & clean environment for everyone. The campaigns also recieved a positive review from the residents.The residents liked the idea very much and were also ready to implement itat the individual levels . Then there was another campaign launched which was ''Every Drop Matters'' . The campaign aimed to create awareness among the people to save water and use it wisely. ?Set your AC to 24 C? , another innovative campaign which was lauched by DEWA to encourage the residential, commercial and industrial customers to set the AC temperatures to 24 C which reduces the electricity load and consumption thus reducing the carbon emissions. All these campaigns were initiated just for one main objective , which was to protect the environment and keep it clean and tidy adn thus keeping it safe to live in . SOURCE : Gulf Today

Harmanjot, thanks for sharing! Indeed, just like all others already said, more public attention to the environment will definitely change how people see the world. They'll naturally be more conscious with their daily habit, hopefully. In that sense, the number of visits seems to be a good omen for positive change to come. Thanks !

Harmanjot, thanks for informing us about some impressing awareness campaigns. It is important to keep making people be alarmed about how much they produce carbon everyday. This is really impressive. This reflects the commitment of DEWA to sustainability. Successful campaigns are necessary to motivate the general people to adopt eco-friendly lifestyles and I am really glad to learn that DEWA is doing a great job in Dubai. Surely Dubai will achieve its plan by 2021. It was a nice report.

Yeah, DEWA is in full swings with various campaigns to encourage residents to save electricty and water. As residents, it is our responsibility to co-operate with them and protect environment by reducing wastage. Thanks for sharing, Harmanjot.

Dubai Plan 2021 seems like a really innovative idea! Other countries should follow similar campaigns or ideas for a more sustainable environment. Aspects such as a good allowance of time and hearing feedback from citizens should also be followed. Thank you for the great report!
