I & my family believes in recycling to the core. We reuse every item in the household unless it is really wasted. All paper, plastic, glass, cardboard etc. goes to recycling, bags are used again & again till they wear out, Both sides of paper are used for printing [our print cartridge lasts for many months as we print only if it is necessary], the text books are exchanged with the senior grade students & are passed on to the junior grade when we move to higher grades. Moreover, I have encouraged my friends, classmates, community & many others to recycle through various drives, media reports & other publicity. I am active in recycling since I was in Grade 3. I love My Mother Earth & my way of expressing this love is Three R?s Reduce, Reuse & Recycle. It gives immense satisfaction while submitting recyclables to the genuine people who will do the needful & complete the cycle. I always make sure to accumulate sufficient quantity & later submit the recycling material to the local recycling centers. Many students cannot access these centers due to time & other logistical constraints. In order to help them I collect their contributions on their behalf & record the same. On a monthly basis we organize a small competition & the biggest recycling contributor is honored & is awarded a medal. Such competitions & drives are very helpful in generating healthy race to the highest amount of contribution. Many students have been motivated by the actions of our Group ?Serve The Earth? & they have initiated their own drives & competitions. This is very encouraging as more & more people in UAE are devoted to this noble cause in the service of Mother Earth & the landfills are being saved of the huge quantum of trash. My city Sharjah has succeeded in achieving a 67% waste diversion from landfills [Picture attached]. Beeah, an environmental management company based in Sharjah provide sustainable solutions in environmental and resource management including Integrated Waste Management, Public Cleansing, Environmental Consulting, Education & Awareness, Renewable Energy, Facilities Management and Sustainable Development. I am their ambassador for past three years & very active in all their drives & programmes. Similarly I am an active member of Emirates Environmental Group in Dubai since past 6 years. It is an accredited NGO with the UN Convention for combatting Desertification. It is the first environmental NGO in the world to be accredited with ISO 14001 certification. They are also very active in Dubai in organizing many drives for recycling & other environmental activities. I strongly urge the readers to join similar organisations in their respective regions & contribute. Each & every bit of contribution matters & no effort is small. Together we have it all. Recycling is the core of conservation |
