Recycling campaign - progress

by | 20-06-2016 23:40 recommendations 0

A few reports ago, I talked about my recycling campaign where I collected paper from my fellow classmates. Now, I would like to talk about my progress in my recycling campaign. When I first started it, I did not think I would receive much paper from my friends and thought that the campaign would be a complete fail.

I was wrong. In just the first week, I have collected 5 kilograms of paper. My friends were glad to get rid of their past papers and I was over-the-top happy to receive all of those papers even though it was heavy. In the next continuing weeks, I collected more and more paper. I could collect about 5-8 kilograms of paper each week.

This campaign has been going on for 5 weeks and I will be taking it to the recycling place this Wednesday. So far, I have collected over 30 kilograms of paper. The last time I checked, it was 38 kilograms of paper, but that was before I collected a huge pile more.

Collecting all of these paper made me both sad and happy. I was happy that I got support from all of my friends and I?m happy that they were willing to donate their papers for the good of the environment, but I?m sad as it proves that humans have exploited the use of paper and exploited trees. Paper is part of why deforestation occurs. It is time for me to make a difference in my school. It would break my heart terribly to see the unused paper go to waste so this recycling campaign could be the change we needed.

    Dear Minjoo Mentor,
Thank you so much for your comment. Yes that is right. These papers were the ones that were given from our school such as worksheets, etc.

Patricia, I just read about your recent report that continues this one! It is amazing for you to plan such activities. We should not only collect waste papers, but also put effort in trying to use paper only when necessary. Thanks for writing and have a great day!

    Dear Heonjun Park,
Yes, My school does not have a recycling system yet. I have proposed the project to the principal but he turned it down :( For what I did to the papers, I have written it in my newest report that I have just posted today. Thank you for your comment! @HeonjunPark

    Dear Joshua Amponsem,
Thank you so much! Yes, I am thinking about starting a company, but I'm only fifteen so I will still need lots of help from adults hahaha. Hopefully soon I will have my own company. Go green!

Hey Patricia! Nice work! Seeing from your report, i guess the school does not have a recycling system yet? If it is so, I suggest you request to have such system at school. By the way, what will you do with the papers? I'd love to read follow ups on this :D Thanks for sharing!

Wow, that's amazing how much paper you could collect even if it was just within your community. Your campaigning not only benefited your collection for recycling but it also made people know the importance of doing so. From your experience, I can't wait to try out something similar. Thanks for sharing!

I really appreciate the way you have taken it in your hands to collect used papers from community. I agree with you that we should minimise the use of paper to save trees. Papers should not be thrown but should be recycled as much as possible. Keep up the good work, Thanks for sharing.
