Few recycling hacks of my own

by | 01-07-2016 03:49 recommendations 0

This world produces tons of garbage per day. If we didn?t manage these mountains of trash we would face to a big trouble in the near future. But some countries are already facing issues of managing garbage. In other hand some countries are efficiently managing their own trash.

One of the solutions to this all-time issue is Recycling.

Even though the garbage I produce in my life time is small compare to the garbage Sri Lanka produces, I try to recycle and reuse some objects I use in my daily activities. I have my own recycling habits which my father taught me when I was little. So I think it?ll be a great idea to share it with you.

1.       Pencil holders.

We usually get paper, plastic cups when we purchase coffee or soft drinks from fast food restaurants. Without throwing those cups away, as a habit I collect them whenever it?s possible and use them as pen-pencil holders. Doing so I won?t need to purchase new pencil holders to organize my pens and pencils. And I am helping with waste management as well as saves money.

Even though I use the cups as it is, you could paste different beautiful papers around the cup and turn it into creative product.

2.       Flower/Plant pots

We get many different kinds of plastic containers when we purchase food items, from ice cream to rice. Even though some of the containers are small I grow plants inside these and keep those in my garden and in the balcony. Without spending extra money these colorful containers make my garden an interesting place to be.

What you just have to do is get the container and using a nail or any sharp object make holes on the bottom of the container. Then as in a ready-made plant pot extra water we put to the plant will flow away from these holes.

It is a simple task. And by doing that I save the environment by not throwing away plastic which will eventually harm the nature. And could save some money and can buy more plants from the money I save for the pots.

3.       Accessory / Stationery holders.

In our day today life we purchase goods which has an outer container. From shoe box, metal tea box and to pet medicine cans we get many containers. And I believe without just throwing away these items we can use these. I use these containers keep my stationery, school supplies and accessories.

Even though these are primary steps of recycling I hope you could get some ideas to do by your own.

So you could protect the environment while saving some money.

Thanks for giving us some wonderful ideas about recycling in daily life, Kanchana. Though I also try to reuse plastic wastes as pencil cases or stationary holders, it becomes impossible when it gets too much. So I try to use tumblers when I visit some place to drink, but it's not easy always :-( Thanks for sharing and have a great day!

yeah, it is one of the best way. We are unknown of such things which are directly affecting environment and through such knowledge people can be profited in both hands, using the used product again and saving the environment. Good job :)

Recycling is one of the best ways to reduce wastage and I am glad that you do it in your own ways. I have also been recycling/reusing yoghurt containers, milk bottles etc as pen holders or magazine stand, pots etc. Thanks for sharing and keep it up.
