Energy from waste! |
---|
In Lima, like in other parts of Peru, there is a problem with the waste we generate in our daily life, as in most activities we do, we generate some kind of waste, in many cases you can save some of the waste and recycle, which is being done with paper and bottles. However, most people do not realize this practice and dump the garbage without separating, collecting organic waste, paper, cardboard, bottles, etc.. Because Lima is the capital of Peru and is where most concentrated population generates a lot of garbage. It can therefore be seen as large amounts of garbage are dumped into rivers even as the Rimac and Chillon, causing water pollution and loss of several species that used to exist. Lima On average only generates 6000 tons of garbage daily, equivalent to 4.2 tons per minute, 2.2 million tons per year. This mainly contains organic wastes and paper, cardboard, metal, glass, plastic, cloth, leather, rubber, among others. Your inappropriate treatment has direct and indirect effects on health status of the population, the beautification and the environment in general. But since 2012 the company Petromas (Peruvian working for a healthy environment) that is dedicated to solid waste management, built and started the operation of the first Biomass Power Plant Huaycoloro located three hours from Lima, in Huarochiri, he is making will directly benefit workers and consumers of services by industrial and domestic electricity generation. It is clean energy generation comes from waste and are processed in a sanitary landfill where through anaerobic processes resulting methane gas is first purified and then generates electricity with the aim of reducing the rate of climate change accordance with international commitments by Peru in the global fight against climate change. This proposal plans to reduce two million tons of CO2 in its six years, in a process that has been developed within the provisions of the Kyoto Protocol, which proposes the reduction of the emission of gases that cause the greenhouse effect. Currently used three and a half million kilos of garbage daily that receives Huaycoloro landfill and constitutes about 42% of solid waste generated by the city of Lima. Now up to all of us and make us aware of the impact we can have on our environment, begin to work together and realize how to leverage the potential that we have around us to generate clean and renewable energy, helping to conserve our planet. |

Thanks a lot!! :) In fact, it would be great if we could build more of these plants, especially in places away from the capital. And it will be amazing if we could see this initiative in other countries!! :)
