Plant for the Planet

by Simran Vedvyas | 31-07-2016 20:14 recommendations 0

Plant for the Planet is a children s initiative that aims to raise awareness amongst children and adults about the issues of climate changeand global justice.

The Initiative also works to plant trees, and considers this to be both a practical and symbolic action in efforts to reduce the effect of climate change. In 2011, it reached a goal of planting a million trees

Participants from Plant-for-the-Planet see each tree as a contribution towards environmental and climate protection. They also consider each tree to be an action for social justice. This organisation sees that it is most often the developing countries that suffer the most from the effects of climate change, despite the fact that they have most often done the least to cause it. It is for this reason Plant-for-the-Planet considers each tree to also be a symbol for climate justice.

Initiative is led by the Children and Youth Boards
I am an active member and elected Global Youth Board Member since 2012.

I have conducted several academies and inducted over hundred youngsters as certified Climate Justice Ambassadors

Join me and the Initiative to lead in your respective countries today.

If you seek any help, then send me your short CV and Note on your Interest by email- simran.vedvyas@gmail.com, so I can reply to you further action.

What a nice initiative with such good motive! I think it's especially meaningful that the group is composed of young kids. Just like many others commented below, I'd also love to see following activities of this organization. Cheers for good work :D

This is a really nice read. Trees help us a lot through their limitless servings all across life. I hope to be that role model figure for the youth in my country and unite them so that we can come up with ideas to save Kenya and the world as a whole. Thank you for sharing this.

amazing... putting under control the rate at which climate change is taking place is something that needs a collective effort and this is one of the efforts towards the realization of this. will contact you so that i can learn more about this. its really impressing.

Thank you Simran. Sometimes its funny with how some 'grown ups' react. I don't know if there should be a subject on the importance of trees and planting them. Authorities cut down most trees and grow grass for a car park and after making it, they want to park their cars under trees because of the shade it gives.
How can we change the attitude of such people?

I would love to know more on what specific activities you did as a group! It really seems like a rewarding experience. I've been to several watersheds myself, one major one being La Mesa, and we had a goal to plant trees as well. I remember learning that a person would have to plant 200 trees in his/her lifetime to cancel out the carbon emissions I would directly and indirectly create make. Your position as a Climate Justice ambassador is surely something to look up to and to bring influence to other people. Thank you for the report!
