Pope Francis on Protecting the Environment |

I know that Religion is not something we normally talk about here in Eco-Gen but I saw an old article and I think it is interesting. The title is "Pope calls for protection of life, environment" and it is talking about what the new Catholic Pope who is Pope Francis said about the environment.
Pope Francis said during his inaugural mass: "I would like to ask all those who have positions of responsibility in economic, political and social life, and all men and women of goodwill: let us be 'protectors' of creation, protectors of God's plan inscribed in nature, protectors of one another and of the environment". The Pope is the leader of all Catholics in the whole world. So when he says something it is very important to all Catholics. Even more significant is when the Pope says something in his inaugural mass because this is when he starts his role as a Pope and when he tells the Catholic world what are his priorities. So when the Pope tells us to be protectors of the environment it is very important and that is his instruction to us as Catholics. Even in our school our theme in the past years was JPIC or Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation. We all have to be responsible for creation and all that was given to us by God. Our Pope actually got his name from St. Francis of Assisi, who is the Patron Saint of Animals and the Environment. |
