How to engage people in community activities like growing trees is always a problem to many social workers. But here, let's me give an example of how a good idea can change and attract social concern. This idea was carried by Vietnamese students on Hoang Sa Street, Ho Chi Minh City.
With the desire of inspire city citizens care more about environment, a group of students collected old tires to make them flowerpots. They also decorated these tires by drawing supermen, heroes then colored. The flowerpots surely would not only bring the green, the fresh atmosphere for the street but also raise people?s interest in growing trees.
This project has received many positive responses from people, even old ones. The most important thing is that many young people had chance to show their love for environment. They work together, create cute pots together.
I believe we have heard a lot of growing trees in house roofs, in old vases, but creating pots from old tires is absolutely amazing. For me, it is an art. Do you think so? In the near future, this project is expected to be multiplied to many other locations.

Nice to meet you again, Thao! Making flower pots with used tires looks like a very good idea. Coloring those tires even looks like an art piece! People, especially ones who are interesting at art, will be willing to participate as well. Thanks for sharing, and have a splendid weekend!

I think the use of old tires for planting trees is the nicest method of recycling them, since they are made of plastics hence its difficult to decompose.Decorating them is motivational to others that instead of dumping old tires they could use this way and at the same time environment will be conserved.

Ooh yes. . its an art. When my young brother was 6years, he used to cry for old tyres to use for playing..one day when i got a tyre and planted a flower, he got so enticed by the new technology. And yes when he turned 9years..he looked for tyres not to use them for playing but to plant more flowers. Untill now...i call him an urban agriculturist. He plante vegetabkes, fruits in the tyres. We now started a tree planting project in tyres. they save space and they are efficient.

Making flower pots out of old tires is a good way to recycle(or rather upcycle) old tires. Decorating them with beautiful painting etc is indeed an art. We see lots n lots of such pots here in UAE. In my school we had many of these in our school garden.
I had also upcycled discarded tires to make tables which really looked cool and were appreciated by all.
Thanks for sharing.
