On the 26th of September 2016 happened to be my first workshop on environmental sustainability under Tunza Eco-generation. I decided not to host a big event rather I visited MIMS comprehensive college, a secondary school few blocks to my house to discuss environmental pollution. The principal, Mr Salaudeen H.A. gladly accepted my invitation where he introduced me to the students as Tunza Eco-generation Nigerian ambassador.
It was quite easy for me since most of them live in the community and must have seen some of the polluted sites. I introduced them to environment pollution starting with its definition and causes. I highlighted and focused on some of the popular polluted sites in the community which spurred a debate in the class when I asked them ?who is to blame, the government or the citizens?? Although, majority said the government should be blamed but both parties gave concrete proves.
I told them as a citizen they shouldn?t wait for the government rather they should take actions to solve the environmental challenges in their communities, either by volunteering as a group to clean up the polluted sites or meet with the local government officials and explain to them why it?s exigent to maintain a clean and safe environment.
At the end of the interaction, they asked questions which I answered and we all agreed to fix a date when we will all visit one of the polluted sites in the community and clean it up. I gave gifts on behalf of Tunza Eco-generation to students who were active and answered questions during the program.

Thanks for sharing Kamaldeen! I'm glad the initiative you took triggered their interest. Well cleaning up the city may be stressful for that young kids especially under the scorching sun haha but i hope they'll like the idea of having class outside. cheers!

Great job Kamaldeen, way to go! First of all, congrats for successfully finishing your first workshop experience. It must have been tough to lead the program in front of a lot of people. I am eager to hear more about the future plans, visiting the polluted sites. Thanks for sharing, and have a great day!

Well begun & congrats. I agree, we must focus on our actions instead of waiting for government to act. We all are part of government & actually government in nothing but people like all of us. We take one step & people join & support you.

It's a very great initiative. when we engage children and youth in the political process to preserve the environment, I think it's the best way to achieve the goal.
Congratulation Ksssim. Keep going
