Fiji Islands will be organising the 23rd session of the Comference of Parties (COP23) in 2017. It has become the first Pacific Island nation to preside over the COP 23 in Bonn, Germany in 2017 .
This UN event is an annual meeting to discuss climate change-related issues and review the action on past decisions.
President of COP22 Salaheddine Mezouar, said that Morocco will provide full support, assistance and advice to the Fiji Islands to organize COP23 and they hope to meet the expectations and carry on the action initiated in COP22 successfully. He also pointed out that the island county is the first to be threatened by climate change.
