The 'DUBAI LAMPS' Initiative 2017

As environmentalists, we all know that energy-efficient lightbulbs such as halogen incandescents, compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs), and light emitting diodes (LEDs) are much more eco-friendly than traditional incandescents.

Recently, UAE has taken one step further towards environmental sustainability. World?s most energy efficient and commercial viable LED lights will hit the shelves in Emirate this year.

The LED lamps have been given the name after Dubai as it is called DUBAI LAMPS. It will become mandatory in all buildings under construction to use DUBAI LAMPS. In fact it will be the basic requirement to use DUBAI LAMPS to get the Building Completion Certificate.

The civic body here intends to replace 80% of traditional light bulbs with the DUBAI LAMPS. A supply of two million DUBAI LAMPS for residential and professional use across the city is in progress.

Few months back I had carried out the successful ?Green Your House project wherein I collected electricity bill data from my neighbors and friends and conducted a small workshop for them on how to save money on electricity bills. I asked them to use Energy efficient bulbs and try to minimize the unnecessary use of electricity. I adopted three houses for three months and monitored their bill for the time period. To my utter surprise, the electricity bills of those houses plummeted substantially. My neighbors were very happy when they saw bill amount coming down. To be precise, if my small ?Save Energy? project can make such an impact, the initiative by Dubai Municipality can make a multifold phenomenon difference. The DUBAI LAMP will not only shoot up electricity bill savings by up to 90% but will also take light and energy efficiency to new levels.

The environment friendly lamp has no mercury so it does not generate heat, that in turn, helps in saving on cooling costs and it does not spread ultraviolet light. With an average life span of up to 15 times more than conventional lamps DUBAI LAMPS is exceptionally durable.

Only challenge is to create public awareness of the need for energy saving and for reduction of carbon emissions in line with the Dubai government?s vision. UAE government is already working upon raising awareness amongst the public so that DUBAI LAMPS initiative is fully effective and fruitful.

Thanks for Reading.

Kudos to Dubai for another eco-initiative. Replacing 80% of traditional lamps with Dubai lamps, will reduce energy consumption to quite an extent. Thanks for posting.
Also I really appreciate your environment advocacy-the way you conducted workshop to educate your neighborhood about need and ways to be energy conscious. Keep it up.
