Last Tuesday 07th February 2017, the Tunza Ecogeneration TOGO team was welcomed by the children of the Lay Primary School Victoria located in Lome in the 5th arrondissement of the city.

The agenda included:

1) Offer Tunza Ecogeneration tools like pens and notebooks to children who had ranked first in their classes at the end of the first trimester. This selection included pupils from the Elementary Course to the middle course. The aim of this act is not only to encourage list leaders to do more to maintain their places, but also to encourage and motivate others to redouble their efforts to achieve excellence in their curriculum and The school environment.

2) Next, there was talk of testing children to get an idea of their knowledge of environmental protection. We were very surprised at their acceptable level in this area.

3) Having an idea of the basic knowledge available to children, now places the exchange of knowledge between us and the children.

The first step was to inform the students about the nature, the environment, climate change more precisely the change of seasons and the rising heat in Lome and in the interior of the country. Secondly, there was talk of a sharing between the Tunza team and the little curious people of the Lay Primary School who wanted to know everything about the causes and dangers of climate change and what they should do to participate in the Rescue of the environment in collaboration with other stakeholders. Among the responses were alternatives such as the use of renewable energies, the reduction in the use of plastic bags, the non-waste of water and electricity resources, etc.

4) In various, the pupils have taken resolutions and commitments like:

  • Wash your hands regularly
  • Turn off the lamp and appliances when they leave their rooms
  • Throw garbage into trash cans
  • Do not soil their rooms and classrooms
  • Reduce the use of plastic bags
  • Talk to their loved ones about what they have learned

In conclusion it was a good and interesting activity which permit both we and kids to relax, to laugh and to learn more than what we?ve known already.
