Hello everyone. I apologize for the great delay in the publication of this report. Indeed, the last three months have not been very favorable to my level due to my state of health which has deteriorated somewhat during these last times and also following my small frequent trips in some countries of West Africa. With that, I ask you to accept his reasons and to apologize for the delay in my reports for some time.
The theme of this month really made me think a lot because of its immensity in terms of almost invisible little people who fight each day without being always recognized or popular for their struggle for a better environment and also in terms Of great leaders whom we all know leaders whom he draws behind him.
This is how I chose to talk to you about a very noble and honorable young person from my country, TOGO, who has been committed to sustainable development for quite some time.
I chose to tell you about him Not because it is the only or the best that exists in this country whatever being very small or the best in the world But because I think first of all that it is necessary to support the youth initiative, social entrepreneurship and also because, as it is said, IT MUST BE CONSUMED LOCAL AND THAT THERE ARE SMALL ACTIONS THAT BIG THINGS ARE BORN. And these kinds of reports are opportunities to boast about this platform. The actions are as small as they are, but they have an impact on the community that is already being done at the national level, even if conditions in the country do not necessarily favor it.
Mr GADO Bémah was born in 1990 in a modest family to always aspire from an early age to work independently and to provide assistance to people in need. After his BAC, his brothers who came to him a little help from an educational point of view asked him to pass competitions to work in the public service, which he refused. He had only one thing in mind, and this thing was to continue university studies to be a great leader of tomorrow. This decision led him to go through several difficult situations, ups and downs or he was called to take charge. But all these challenges have not prevented him from continuing his struggle to realize his dreams of creating a better world.
So in his second year of Geology, he created in 2011 despite his situation an association under the name of African Science and Technology for a Sustainable Development (STADD) with zero franc. This association had its official recognition by the Togolese State on May 29, 2012 and the receipt in June 2012.
Despite the discouragement, the desistance of the others within the association and the lack of accompaniment He persevered in his undertaking by continuing to raise awareness in schools, public places and households about sorting and better management of waste. Thus, with the support of the City Council and the Gulf Prefecture in Lomé, the association has carried out a project for the collection and recovery of plastic waste in the city of Lomé and in the Gulf Prefecture in 2013.
This project, which enabled the association to be named development NGOs in 2015, based on its results, consisted of the installation of containers in the city of Lomé and in the Gulf prefecture which served To recover plastic waste (at least 50 tonnes per month) for recycling in PVC pipes, poly tanks, bags and other plastic gadgets.
Today, he continues his project with his Master in Sedimentary Environments. He has broadened the field of intervention of his association always on the protection of the environment, namely beach cleaning and also personal development where he Has already had to train more than 600 young people. It has managed to contract partnerships with other institutions and associations such as the Ministry of the Environment, the US Embassy in Togo, Radisson BLU, Angel, Global Contour etc. Which give him a boost.
It really warms the heart to see a young person so committed to the circumstances to save humanity. And what would be more interesting is that from anywhere else in the world he can be assisted for the good continuation of these activities.
