From Organic Balcony Garden to Kitchen

by Rohan Kapur | 09-04-2017 04:08 recommendations 0

Dear Fellow Ambassadors and avid readers, Greetings!

I am so close to nature, at heart, that I avail all opportunities to appreciate & treasure the natural plants, flowers & fruits. I plant trees, keep planters at home & now I have developed a small organic garden on the balcony of my house.

Since past many years I have kept flowering & medicinal plants at home and last year I decided to maintain a small organic garden as well. This has turned out to be very interesting & fruit bearing initiative. These small plants are giving us Basil, Baby Tomatoes, Chillies and mint leaves regularly. And as icing on the cake I have made sure to keep these plants organic, therefore no pesticides & other harmful chemicals are used.

This morning once again I plucked some mint leaves for my kitchen. These may be used in many ways. My father may use it to garnish his Green Tea and my mother may use it to make a spicy Indian sauce. I know all will keep their share, but I will be the happiest person to nurture the natural treasures.

I maintain them with love and care and dear readers it feels great to have those fruits which are fully grown by my hands by nurturing them, watering them, and feeling pride in growing these tiny & little plants.

All these are kept in the balcony of our apartment in Sharjah, UAE. Initially, when I started this my bit of organic farming I put up a report at Tunza portal on 10-Nov-16. The link of the same is given below:

If you are living in a countryside the same seems very easy & natural but for us, desert dwellers, these are a bliss. We treasure each leaf & seed and highly value them. With the medium of this green forum, I urge all the avid readers to plant organic in their homes, kitchen gardens and at all available & feasible places.

Thanks for reading.

Rohan, thank you for your report. That was a hearty report. I grow some plants, but never tried to have my own organic garden. I wish to follow your initiative. Thank you for motivating!

Thanks Daon. Its' quite easy. The key is patience. You have to wait for 8-12 weeks for the fruits to be ripe. But this is real fun & living close to nature.

Hello Rohan! Thanks for sharing your 'gardening life' with us and pictures taken by yourself:)
This was really interesting that you could grow all of them in your balcony in apartment!
Even if i'm living in a countryside in Korea, i haven't tried growing something by myself, but i'm inspired to do so after reading your writing haha.
    Thanks again for the report~
