The battle to protect water

My story about little coots and the West Lake have not yet finished. You may have known about the fate of coots in my previous post: be slaughtered and had to leave its familiar destination. But what about the lake?

West lake used to be named as a paradise of fish, and now it become the hell of fish. Because of thirty illegal dumping water pipe, all of the fish in West lake had died. The lake glisten but not because of the pure water but the dead fish. What a horrible scene! Many people around here even have to leave due to the stinky smell.

That horror story is only a trivial example of water pollution in Vietnam. Not only the lake, but also the river and even the sea have been terribly polluted. Recently, the illegal dumping of a steel factory have destroyed the marine life in the ocean zone of four provinces in Vietnam. Or the polluted water of a river have caused the population of a whole village suffering from cancer.

Can all of that story help you to fully understand about the deliberated water pollution in Vietnam? Every Vietnamese now is afraid of the water they drink every day. They are ready to hold hand together to fight for their lives. But it is not easy enough because it all related to political affair. Can Vietnamese can be successful in their way?

Hi again Linh, it's such a sequence of tragedies happened.
Water pollution is not a concept that only enthusiastic environmentalist should care, but a real problem that all human being should care because it is related to our lives as well.
Hope strict rules or regulations be made to address this issue as soon as possible.

Linh, thank you for the report. I just replied on your previous report and there is new one here! So I see water is being polluted. As you said, it is important, as always, to raise a question. Can Vietnamese be successful with dealing with water pollution. To find an answer we can go on with campaigns, actions. Or as a reporter, you could find the information and write about it. Tell us more about the government's effort or any other efforts to clean up the water.
