Water is a source of life, this is what many people say here in Africa. While, according to the human rights chart, it is stated that all human being living on this earth has the right to life. But, when we say each human has the right to life and we notice that some people lack the source of life which is water, one can say that these people are denied their right to life. So getting access to water should be effective for everyone.
In the department of Duekoue located in the Western region of Ivory Coast, there is a village named Dibobli. In fact, this village accounts more than twenty thousand inhabitants. The village is near a big river called Cavally. But, till today 2017 the population of this village is living without clean water. They continue using the water of the river to cook, bath and drink. In an interview I hosted with the nurse of that village, he explained that most of the sicknesses of that population are water based sicknesses.?? As a matter of fact, the water they use is not pure and clean, is even infected??, here are the words of the nurse Boblae Jean Paulin working in that village since eight months now.
As consequence, we are witnessing people who are dying without help because they cannot cook, drink or bath with clean water. We then understand that water is a serious issue in that village as many of fall sick because of the water they use. While this river whose water is infecting the population of Dibobli can simply appear as an advantage by transforming into clean water without digging the ground to seek for clean water.
However, the government has been called and the authorities have reacted, but their action remains very insignificant. In fact, for a village of twenty thousand inhabitants, the local authorities have offered only one rural hydraulic pipe. According to the nurse, at least 80 percent of the population still uses water coming directly from the river. For them, they spend too much time before getting clean water from the pipe while they have other occupations during the day. So, instead of spending two to three hours before getting access to clean water, they prefer to continue going to the river to get water.
The local authorities and the government need to reinforce their efforts to provide easy access to water in that village and other villages undergoing the same problem. Because, they are aware that their sicknesses or death are partly related to the water they use, and this situation is warning on an upcoming uprising.

Frederic, thank you for your report. It is sad that so many people lack an access to clean water. No wonder why people are getting water from the river, instead of waiting for a long time everyday. The government as well as the local authority should make an effort to settle the situation and I am sure they are already working on it. If you see any changes, please write about it.

Hi Frederic, thanks for sharing your report on water pollution in Dibobli!
As you mentioned, water is critical in human life in a sense that unreliable water source puts people into great danger.
Hope effective regulations and policy regarding sewage system would be made soon.
Thanks for sharing again:)
