Environmentally-friendly housing

by Nanami Nishihara | 01-06-2017 22:45 recommendations 0

A famous Japanese architect Terunobu Fujimori is promoting environmentally-friendly house project. The definition of environmentally-friendly house in this project is that ?Houses and regional environment which are created with consideration to energy, resource and waste problems by perspective of protection of the Earth?s environment, in which we can have healthy, comfortable, and environmentally-friendly lifestyle while actively interacting with nature.? The aim of this environmentally friendly house is to protect global environment, to harmonize with nature, and to live healthy and comfortable. His most famous work and his home is ?Tanpopo House,? which roof is covered by dandelion flowers. In any extra space of this house plants and flowers can grow up so it can be said that this house is co-existing with nature.

By the way, changing your house to environmentally-friendly one is not enough to save the Earth, we have to change whole city. These days in Japan, many housing companies are trying to create environmentally-friendly city system. Although it takes long time and lots of money, but if we can achieve this, we can use energy and resource more efficiently and that will help us to save the environment.

Nanami, thank you for your report. I have seen some of environmentally friendly architectures in Japan and this one also seems interesting. I wish you could upload the photo of the inside. In addition, if you could introduce us any further architectures by the architect, I would love to read it.

I am so loving the artistic design. I don't think eco-friendly homes are expensive since the materials are easily sourced. I am curious, how does the house take care of soot emission?

Hi Nanami! Thanks for sharing interesting article on environmental housing!
The most eye-catching point is a green roofing, which, i think, could help saving energy. In addition to just green roofing, there are many initatives to install solar pannels on the roof, so that they can produce their own energy. I heard that there are successful environmental friendly and energy independent villages in Japan! It would be really great if you could share what you know about them:)
