With an aim to converge youth from different backgrounds having various ideas, knowledge, experience about climate change across the nation, the Digobikash institute along with many other supporting agencies, Hetauda Climate Convergence was announced for July 14-16, 2017 in AFU, Forestry Campus hall. Among the 30 participants from Chitwan and Makwanpur, I was one of the them from Chitwan.

July 14

Well, the day begun with introduction and interaction with new faces and bonding started. Susmita Mishra, a gentle and lovely speaker started the session and handover the floor to very awesome Jony Mainaly. Seeing the energy of these people, we were blown away. Jony Mainaly lighted upon the national and international laws and by laws about the climate change. The sequences and series of the actions followed till date on climate issues. The way she presented herself, the way she spoke was really wonderful. She spoke about SDGs, NAPA,  LAPA and various strategies which address adaptation and mitigation measures against climate change.

And of course Prasuj Mainali was there full of energy and zeal. He awoken us from every boredom. His 1,2,3,4,5 game was exciting. After Jony Mainaly, the session was handed over to Mr. Puspa parag sir. He works as a human right activist. He cleared us about climate justice, human right issues that are related to climate change impacts. Really climate change is matter of human rights and responsibilities. Thus, the day ended up with loads of knowledge, fun and mental growth.

July 15

The second day was even more fabulous when the floor was open by my personal favorite Avishek Shrestha. He is a complete package of knowledge, fun, leadership and so inspiring. I was completely lost by the way he delivered the words. Though his formal speaking day was the following day, he spoke as an program runner that day. A lady ( kalpana thumsing) from FEKOFUN told us about how community forest is working in making hetauda the green city. The advantages local people are getting from it. She also mentioned about the rural life of Makwanpur near the Forest area and how women are pushed forward towards savings, cleanliness, empowerment and employment. The next session was the panel discussion and this session was one of the breath taking session for me. It was for the 1st time I was attending such discussion. This session was facilitated by Jony Mainaly and there was presence of B.K Maharjan sir and Puspa Parag  sir. B.k sir mentioned about his role in making the Hetauda a green city. He also told about how the municipality is going to adress the environment cleanliness and sanitation, the solid waste management practise follwed, the plan and policies made for environment justice. While Puspa Parag Sir told us about the human rights, climate justice and plan and policies to be made on these sectors. Numbers of queries were asked from participants side. It was one of the most productive session. The further session was taken by the faculty member of Forestry University who encourage us to act from our own side, to think out of the box. And the day was over finally.

July 16

We were much excited as it was the last day of the convergence. The day begun by the very energetic and vibrant Niraj Kafle. He indulge us more in activities which was the best part of the session. He practically made us aware about the leadership development, team work and effective communication. It was fun and interesting.  The next session was carried out by Binod parajuli, a member from climate tracker. He told us about how to organize our writings in the magazines and journals. He also cleared us about how our writings could be published in climate tracker website. He is so young yet very ahead. He also shared the facts about how to organise COPs in my city. Then we bid farewell to our lovely Jony Mainaly and Binod Parajuli. The following session was about experience sharing by Prasuj Mainali, Narendra Pokhrel and Rosna. This session was too motivating because these guys were so assiduous and we were greatly inspired. And the next session   was of Avishek Shrestha who talked about climate organising, campaigning,  about COPs, Paris agreement,  Trump withdrawal and many more. I was so sleepy during this session that no matter how hard I try to keep my head I could hardly manage it. I am really sorry for that. And finally we made the banner of our convergence.

The continuous singing by whole class along with fantastic jolly Prasuj Mainali was one of the most treasured memory. Besides the fruitfulness knowledge and experience there were so many moments that leave an special print in heart and mind. Mafia game facilitated by Niraj Kafle, the movie  identification game and the whole night truth and dare are beyond awesome. The excellent game player Susmita Mishra, epitome of humour Mr. Prasuj Mainali, energy booster Mr. Niraj Kafle, outstanding inspiring figures Jony Mainaly and Avishek Shrestha and hard working Rosna and Ritika in a whole made this convergence a grandeur event.
