Youth Thinkers' Society Chitwan organized College level Mock Model United Nations on occasion of International Youth Day 2017 at three different colleges at Chitwan. Basically we focused on environment issues in SOS Hermann Gmiener School Bharatpur. Since YTSC focuses on youth development and empowerment with the motto "youth for youths" this MUN was a platform to young students for debating, public speaking, writing, critical thinking and international affairs etc. Since other 2 agendas stressed on fianacial issues as they were on ECOSOC and ECOFIN committees, only report of UNEP committee is presented here. Committee: United Nations Environment Program Topics: "Achieving Sustainable Growth Through Development Of Green Economy."
Countries like Mexico and Germany stressed on how they are using renewable resources like wind, raw materials etc. to preserve oil resources and ultimately promote economic development while developing gulf countries like Iran pointed out that countries seeking and buying oil resources should start to use an alternative fuel options, to which countries like USA, India responded quite impractical as more than 90% of the world still relies on oil resources. Ireland stressed that developing the technologies like use of electric vehicles can be reliable and effective to reduce carbon emissions and global warming however countries like Pakistan opposed stating developing electric alternative to oil resources seems slow process that may degrade economic development also some developing countries may not be able to produce hydroelectricity sustaining their economy. Maximum countries were in favor of optimum environmental utilization that yet favors the proportional environmental protection. USA on other hand put forward the idea of extending green jobs with dual aim to minimize unemployment as well as promote environmental conservation. Countries like Chile, Japan, Sweden spoke about their own country policy for sustainable growth. USA also suggested stopping destroying rainforests for producing palm oils and maximum countries agreed on the point to utilize unused land with suitable topography for maximum palm oil production and development. During an unmoderated caucus following the opening speeches, Delegates met in their respective geographical blocks. Then delegates worked building consensus and combining the drafts following by voting procedure and pass a single resolution. Resolution: 1.Developed countries should help in green economy instead of eying on oil products. 2.Extension of green jobs (green bridge initiatives) 3.Development of electric technologies alternative to fuel resources. 4.Utilization of environment (Renewable resources) such that production should balance proportion.
