Resource Depletion |

There are four basic reasons for the cause of natural resources depletion. They are rapid population increase, high consumption of resources, pollution, and deterioration of land. A rapid population increase creates resource depletion due to unbalanced amount of time between the growth of a community and a resource needed time to fulfill one?s community need. Rapid population increase comes hand in hand with high consumption resources, which has thus created resources depletions. We are polluting atmosphere, lakes, streams, and rivers with the use of detergents, fertilizer, pesticides, and other toxic materials. The uncontrolled use of these toxic materials has disturbed the entire food chains, which animals and man are affected. Land deteriorates gradually one of the reasons behind this is due to cropping where the cycling of soil mineral nutrients is greatly reduced. Beside that, erosion has also depleted soil fertility as most of the minerals could be easily removed by wind or water due to the minerals being in the upper part of the soil. Deteriorated agricultural land has caused the loss of national economy as well as the amount of future resources created. The four pints that have been listed by you are undoubtedly the reasons behind resource depletion. But in my view, in the present context of modernization, one of the major cause of resorce depletion is 'Lack of self-consciousness' too. In this modern world, most of us are already aware about environmental problems and way to solve them. But still we lack the basic consciousness to act in favour of them. We simply act like we do not care about this problems. So I think that lack of self-consciousness to act against such problems is also degrading our nature.

Ida, thank you for your report. I could read brief information about resource depletion in this report. Could you tell us more about the resource depletion in your country? How serious it is, or if not, why it is not serious.

Hi Ida! Thanks for sharing your report on resource depletion.
Your report well explains major causes for resource depletion, from increasing population to land use. It would be great if you could share what's happening in your country regarding resource depletion in a next post:)
