The United Nations Children?s Fund (UNICEF) and the Zambian Wildlife Education Conservation Society (WECSZ) are co-hosting the Sixth Zambian Children's Climate Conference (ZCCC6) this week in Lusaka. ZCCC6 has brought together 75 children aged 15-16 years from 14 schools who will be designated as Climate Ambassadors and challenged to advocate for climate change reduction and HIV prevention. The conference, held under UNICEF Zambia?s Unite4Climate project, is the sixth to be held since the Children's Climate Forum was held in 2009 in Denmark, where four Zambian child ambassadors represented their counterparts and returned home to help build a child-led grassroots movement.
Unite4Climate Zambia is supported through generous funding from ING, the Netherlands Committee for UNICEF, the Danish National Committee for UNICEF, UNICEF Germany and UNICEF Ireland.
