I had been away from my active environmental and community work for two years due to my commitments for my studies. In that meantime, I had to put a break for Students For The Earth (Sfe.) (the organization I founded) for almost an year.
When I came to India, I saw that there is a dearth of volunteering among college students and I wanted to change that. It was then I came up with the idea of "Sfe. Chapters". Sfe. Chapters are mini Sfe.'s at college and school level doing same things an Sfe. does and is actually an official branch of Sfe. The leadership and management, etc are at school/college level. Increasing the exposure and opportunities for students. Also, along with that already existing organizations at schools/colleges can affliate with Sfe. for getting promotion and encouragement for their works and also for getting selected for the Sfe. Awards, etc. Well, I needed to get the idea out clearly. It was then I thought about making a video. I discussed with my friends and many of them were ready to contribute. We started off first by making a script then we started thinking of a screenplay, sent off dialogues to each person, ask them to shoot it on mobile cameras and then we edited them finally to make #BeTheChange Video. See the video above, or visit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yFJVTsIOUN8 After making it, we wanted it to launch it grand. I was on a tour then and had planned Golconda fort on my itinerary. So, when I was at Golconda fort, I went Live on Facebook via my own account and via Students For The Earth account and launched the video. It became a success. Inviting you to check out the video of our hardwork and if interested to make changes, do contact us and we can discuss. Details about Starting an Sfe. Hi, George! (I'm so sorry for the late feedback) Wow, I'm amazed at how much you've done through founding Sfe. and building it up, even creating different branches. I've watched your video, and it was really inspiring to see the Sfe. members (especially you, the founder :)) and listening to their messages. It's great to know that so many youths are passionate about the environment and working hard to protect it and spread awareness. Using various platforms such as Facebook and YouTube is also a great idea to reach out to people and spread awareness to a public audience. I want to root for you and the whole Sfe. to keep making a positive change in the world. Way to go! :D

Hi, George! After watching your entire videos, I could feel how initiative and enthusiastic Sfe members are. I think it's a great idea to utilize live chat on Facebook or other media to show the spot or activities lively so to check people's instant feedbacks and comments. Maybe you can apply their suggestion or idea right after getting feedback. It will be a nice chance to communicate with other members and people who feel interested about Sfe. I also think it will contribute to promoting Sfe and increasing youth's interest!
By the way, I want to give you and your members a big applaud and best wishes for your further activities!!

Interesting article, short and to the point. I am from Zimbabwe, and I also founded an organization that promotes youth participation, however its mainly for medical students and focuses on health and the environment. It is quite inspiring reading your article, and watching your video. Thank you for sharing

Very good initiative and hats off to your vision, mission and passion to bring the change. I watched the entire video and relived the memories of being a part of the Sfe UAE. You gave an amazing opportunity to UAE youths and now to youths in India to come forward, give shape to their ideas, organise events of any kind aiming to give back to the community. All the best.
