Expedition around the Annapurna Conservation Area-Day 1

by Sujan Adhikari | 22-11-2017 00:57 recommendations 0

What if you were asked to go on trekking for 4 weeks round the Himalayas? Would you accompany me? If yes, be prepared inwardly for the long trekking next year in August.

Annapurna Circuit is one of the famous trekking route among travelers in Nepal. Popular for two-three weeks walk through Manang to Mustang valley crossing the world biggest pass of Thorang La at 5416m lured hundreds of thousands of travelers with its distinct landscapes and cultural beauty. The original circuit starting from Besisahar of Lamjung District passes through beautiful villages of Bahundanda, Tal, Danaque towards Chame, headquarter of Manang whereas recent progress made in road had jeep access to Chame.

With this let me unfold my adventurous trip to the world famous Tilicho Lake (highest lake in world) and Thorang Pass (highest navigable pass in world).

1st Day: Jyotinagar, Chitwan- Dharapani, Manang (October 6)

Since October was the most suitable month for wandering around the Himalayas, large flow of national and international visitors was sure to make our excursion amusing and unforgettable one. On the very first day, we started from our home and paused at Dharapani, Manang District after sudden failure in automobile system.

After 6 hours travel from home we reached Besisahar, Lamjung where we need to get vehicle for Manang. After relentless effort, we could manage jeep to start our travel from hill to Himalaya. This presaged us travel to the Himalaya will be incredibly challenging. With group of 9 we began our yatra through twist and turns, jumping and bumping roads and it took almost 7 hours for us to travel 45 km. On the way, we noticed springs, steep hills and dangerous road that thrilled us. Despite all these, we enjoyed the ride to Manang.

Chamche waterfall

On the very first day, we spent our most of the time on road-trip with few exceptions; Chamche spring was one of these. Tasting good food with waterfall beside you, is itself an awesome moment for us though I had travelled such places earlier too. Himalaya is commonplace for such waterfall, hot springs which relives people. So, I recommend travelling once a year.

Its already 8 when we reached Dharapani and decided to take rest. From Terai coming across hill, finally I can feel the cold breeze of Himalaya. Its already 10 and perfect time for rest.
