Recyclathon Run 2017 [Sharjah, UAE]

On 08-Dec-17, Indian Association Sharjah, along with Bee'ah organized an environmental event called Recyclathon Run 2017 at Al Qasba in Sharjah, UAE. The participants were encouraged to bring recyclables like Paper & Plastic and also participate in a symbolic run where the eco-friendly slogans will be vocalized, and environmental awareness will be spread.

Before I proceed, I would heartily like to thank the pro-active and hardworking organizer of this well-executed event, Mr SUNIL RAJ, Indian Association Sharjah  Library Committee Convener, for the organising, the event with such ease, gracing it with his presence and extending guidance to the students.

Heartfelt thanks and acknowledgements also to Adv. YA Rahim; President of Indian Association Sharjah, Sasi Mancharmbath; Coordinator, and Mr Pramod Mahajan; Principal of Sharjah Indian School, for their everlasting support and appraisal during the event.

I decided to participate in this event as this is close to my heart. All environmental events are a service to the mother earth & we must provide our contribution wholeheartedly.

Therefore, the Early morning all the students reached the event site with my contribution to Plastic & Paper. They have contacted the local recycling agency Beeah to collect all these recyclables & take to their huge recycling plant. So, it was a planned exercise.

I witnessed a large number of students have brought their contributions, The site was buzzing with excitement. Soon, the symbolic & non-competitive run started. All were very enthusiastic & shouting Green slogans.

After the run was over, a few students and teachers were given the opportunity to convey a few lines about conservation. amongst them, I too took up the opportunity to address the gathering about the benefits of recycling paper & plastic and keeping healthy through such runs. Huge landfills may be avoided & green living shall be ensured. All agreed with me & vowed to take care of the environment. Many students enquired about Tunza Eco-Generation and I explained them about the same & encouraged them to join this amazing platform.

We all felt satisfied after the event as it was a well-spent weekend morning to the service of The Mother Earth.

Thank you IAS for this breathtaking opportunity and enlightening us through such an embellished event!

Fellow, ambassadors, kindly take care to participate & rather organize such drives in your respective regions. You will feel immense satisfaction with the same.

Thanks for reading.
