Sanitation is key in protecting the environment and which obviously has an impact on people health.

The University of Cocody is the main University of Ivory Coast, it counts more sixty thousands students (60.000). Unfortunately, this place for study is facing severe environmental problems. It is dealing with sanitation problem. The issue arises in two ways.

Firstly, all the toilets of the University are almost damaged. Students need to make a long line to get access to toilets. In this case, some of them who get annoyed by this situation choose to satisfy themselves by finding a bush somewhere. This is what is causing dirtiness around the University. This also produces stink sent and students breathe it.

The second situation is that there is campus on the same site with the university. Almost all the toilets are spoiled and do not function. The pipes in the toilet are just flowing and the water is getting the campus dirty. But, we should note that, the flowing of water is a real waste of resource. The toilets are dirty and are not cleaned up. Some of them are no longer usable. On each block you can find at least find least 20 students, and there are only two (02) toilets available.

Therefore, it is urgent that the authorities of University take practical actions about this issue. In addition, the associations of students must also get involved. NGOs can conduct sensitization and capacity building workshops.
