Huge Corporations? (like SAMSUNG or ASUS) commitment to the environment around the world

Hi everyone! I would like to draw your attention to my tenth report on the topic related to Huge Corporations? (like SAMSUNG or ASUS) commitment to the environment around the world.

As I told before in my previous report we humans have been a total disaster for the rest of the planet, so we should do something to reduce the devastation caused by our ridiculously consumptive lifestyles. Fortunately, at the present time many huge corporations like SAMSUNG, ASER Group, ASUS (Taiwan?s environmental pioneer) and many others understand the need to do something to save the planet. They are committed to minimizing the environmental impact of its innovative products, which include smartphones, TVs, refrigerators, washing machines, wind-free air conditioners and much more. These companies have developed various unique, eco-friendly design processes, and their new products also help us save energy and ensure appropriate treatment of waste, as well as raising the environmental awareness of employees (they provide safe products and services and ensure our employees are healthy and safe in the workplace). Going forward, Samsung will continue to develop eco-friendly innovations that demonstrate the merits of going green in product design, and will ultimately help preserve our planet for future generations.

Recently, I interviewed Jeremy Peng who works as Country Product Manage in ASUS. He told me that now many corporations promote environmental sustainability and ASUS tries to be a world-class company in environmental protection management. The ASUS strategies are as follows.

Continue promoting green fabs, green manufacturing, green supply chains and managing environmental risks by cooperating very closely with its manufacturing partners,

Pursuing the highest consumption efficiency of energy, water, and other resources, and actively engaging in waste reduction and pollution prevention,

Collaborating with external parties to reduce environmental impact together.

Jeremy Peng also added that since ASUS doesn?t manufacture anymore, so they provide demand to their partner factories to produce the goods (ex. Pegatron, Quanta and etc).

What do children and students can do? I discussed this issue with my classmates and teacher in school.

In school we also can save the electricity. I think that all children, students and teachers should work together to reduce CO2. With the winter (and later summer) vacation forthcoming I think that students can watch less TV and go outside and exercise more, which is good for both our health and fighting global warming.

Thank you for your attention!

Hi, Lisa! Wow, it's cool that you've had the opportunity to interview ASUS's product manager! As you've explained in your report, the continuous advancements in technology also allow electronic products to become better for the environment, causing less damage and using less energy. In Korea, we have stickers on electronic appliances, which show the energy efficiency. I've noticed that in the past few years, the efficiency levels of many household appliances have become greatly improved. I've learned in an environmental lecture that changing the energy efficiency of a system (such as switching over from fluorescent lights to LED lighting for lighting a building) is an extremely effective way to make a difference in the environment. I hope the future advancements in technologies can continue to help the environment! Thanks for your report!

Hi Elizaveta, I think those big companies that produce most likely products that might affect Eco-system, should be the first to take initiatives to protect the environment by producing friendly products and take first step in environment protection programs. Thanks for your report.
