Be A Role Model |

Hello!
We all are students who have realized that they have a duty towards planet Earth and that has inspired us to be a part of this amazing platform. We read articles given by the ambassadors, and also many wonderful world reports, competitions, etc. All of these have been written with one central goal, To Make Us Do Action! Yes, we need to "Walk the Talk!". Its easy to say "Don't waste water!" or "Save electricity". But how many of us, when at a restaurant, etc, go and close a running tap seen at a washing area. Many of us would ignore it saying, "I didn't open it. So no need!". Well, thats a very wrong notion. Well, if a general public says that, it might be because of his/her ignorance. But as such environmentally aware students in Ecogeneration, we can't afford to say that. We all have a duty towards planet Earth! The Earth has been giving a lot of resources and we have been using it. Yeah, pollution mainly arises from Factories releasing waste chemicals into waterbodies or gases and smoke from factories polluting the air, etc. But as individuals, don't we also have our part or our share in this pollution? How many of our daily tasks are actually done in an eco-friendly way? Do you close the tap when not needed when in a bathroom? Do you fix your leaking taps? Do you switch of lights when not needed? Do you prefer to walk a shorter distance than using a vehicle? Do you recycle/reuse? Do you prefer to re-use plastic bags at shops instead of using new ones? , etc etc Well, all these actions might seem small. But when each of us make a difference through them, all of it together will make a BIG IMPACT. Small Acts, Big Impact! There are many many things each of us can do and we must make sure that once we start practicing them, we make it a point to let others know and train others. You need to be a role model! You need to be an ambassador for Mother Earth! Many people are ignorant of Environmental protection. They think its a job of government or NGOs. But we know its a collective effort that actually helps and we need to start in an individual level and at our homes, schools, colleges and offices. Well, to scrap of exams because of use of paper? Well, those ideas might not work out because at some situations, for now atleast, we need to follow the current system. Maybe as technology increases, we can find a solution for those problems. But wherever possible be a role model and know for every good thing you do, you actually help save Mother Nature. Won't you be a role model? Share with me what new Eco-Thing you are doing today! Regards, George Zacharia

Hi, George! Thanks for introducing small ways in which we can help the environment in our daily lives. I agree that these actions may be small, but they have a big impact when we all do them together. I am personally making small efforts in my daily life by actively recycling, trying to reduce trash, using reusable shopping bags instead of plastic bags, and walking to places. I hope we all can keep the environment in mind at all times, and try to make small efforts together. :)
