Club of Environmental Science Saptagandaki (CESS) organized an awareness program at Bishajari taal (Twenty thousand Lake) Chitwan, One of the Wetlands listed in Ramsar Site on the occasion of World Wetlands Day 2018. With the theme Wetlands for a Sustainable Urban Future.

President Resham Timalsina inaugurated the program by worshiping the wetland. Speaking about the program lecturer Giri Raj Upadhyaya, Prakash Pokharel and Dhurba Acharya highlighted the importance of wetland in natural ecosystem and our day to day life.

To mark February 2, CESS has been organizing these types of programs regularly since 2014. These types of program helps to increase the level of understanding and highlight the importance of wetlands in ecosystem among the local people.

A wetland is a land area that is saturated with water, either permanently or seasonally, such that it takes on the characteristics of a distinct ecosystem.

The program started with a small rally from Saptagandaki Mulitple Campus with the pamphlets in hands where there were messages and slogans related to wetlands and ended at Bishajari taal worshiping the wetland and creating awareness about the importance of wetlands in ecosystem to the local people.

World Wetlands Day is celebrated every year on 2 February. This day marks the date of the adoption of the Convention on Wetlands on 2 February 1971, in the Iranian city of Ramsar on the shores of the Caspian Sea.

Also I was there with my colleagues and juniors sharing my experience about Tunza Eco Generation and was more than happy sharing about TEG. All of them were interested joining this family and curious about its activities.
