These days due to climate change there are lot of impact on the water bodies as the glaciers in the poles are melting at faster rate, there is ocean acidification, increasing sea level, severe water scarcity and flooding in some areas. For the sustenance of life, water plays a key role so it is crucial time to take appropriate water management measures. One of the major reason that impacts the hydrological systems of the earth is global warming which is mainly caused due to burning of fossil fuels. This report is about the benefits of using water to produce hydroelectricity, which is one of the alternatives to produce clean energy.

Bhutan is blessed with rivers that are fed by glaciers and that runs through the step Himalayan Mountains giving an idle condition to generate hydroelectricity. The country also supplies the electricity to neighboring country India. This is very good for the environment as it is clean and renewable source of energy hence there is no production of greenhouse gases. With the generation of hydroelectricity it has helped in the developmental activities, as there are more employment opportunities, construction of roads and gives an opportunity to the people to learn new skills. Hence, with production hydroelectricity there is enough energy that is sufficient for the entire nation and is a source of revenue as it is being exported.

Hydroelectricity is a good example, which shows that it is better to use alternative/renewable source of energy instead of non-renewable sources because there is less impact on the environment. With the advancement in technology we can produce enough amount of energy that is sufficient for everyone?s needs by using the alternative source of energy.

Lastly, we have to try to restrain from our addiction of using the non-renewable source of energy because it only darkens the environment. It is evident as we are all facing the repercussions of the excessive use of non-renewables as there is ongoing phenomenon of changing environmental conditions, global warming, impact on health, depleting resources and etc.

We can still change the current situation if we shift to using renewable source of energy like hydro, solar and wind as it provides us with clean source of energy. We do not have the rights to hamper the pristine state of out mother earth. Remember we share this plant with millions of other creatures so let us try to switch to alternative/renewable energy sources.

Thank you

For curbing global warming, hydroelectricity can play a vital and effective role. Nepal took this awesome step and other country should also follow Nepal.

i love how you've explained the advantage of using hydroelectricity as opposed to using other (non renewable sources) of energy generation.

The was you shared insight on the benefits of hydroelectricity is most interesting. It is true that the manner in which we gather electricity is laying forth a big carbon footprint, but if and whenwhen we alter to water based electricity generation, w will significantly reduce the amount of Greenhouse gases produced. I loved your report!
