Water is a symbol of life and where there is water there is life. When it comes to the importance of water in our daily life, we should think beyond simply being water but life. In this article, I'm going to share with you my insights on how i think of water and its role in our daily life. I'm going also to briefly discuss on wetlands and what they have to do with water.
According to oxford advanced dictionary water is defined as a clear liquid having the chemical formula H2O, required by all forms of life on earth. From this definition it is clear that water is life in other words. any living thing that can breath on this earth needs water. all tree species, humans, all animal species, and all plant species need water for their existence. Then imagine the earth without water! it is no earth at all instead wildness where life doesn't exist. Thus we know how important water is in our daily life, we should also beware of water treatment as there is no difference between water and life. There are different ways of treating water for humans' good use. The easier one is boiling water up to 100 degree Celsius and cool it down for direct drink. The other one is using chemicals treatment which is commonly used worldwide by water supply stations. In some regions where they have no access on clean water particularly in war zones and refuge camps, people suffer diseases from contaminated water such as cholera, and so on. So using clean water while cooking, or direct drinking it is very essential. Wetland is defined as a land which is mostly covered by water. In other word it is a combination of land and water. Remember 70% of worldwide water usage goes to agriculture and now when you think about this logically, you can approach the importance of wetlands through the lens of plants or any living thing that grow on the land covered but water. There is no need to go through 10 books or more looking for what wetland is about. But it is not enough to fully understand the concept, from the above mentioned definition there is also an adverb "mostly..." which means this place adopt plants that are water resistance or needs a massive water body to grow. Mostly known plant or crops which grow in wetlands is rice. In my country around 90% of households eat rice often and even on daily bases. Rice is a common meal for most of Rwandan families. The largest wetland in Rwanda is Bugarama wetland which yield a thousands tons of rice. The government is putting emphasis on wetlands, not only remotely ones but also urban wetlands like Nyandungu for a sustainable agriculture. From this article we may conclude that, water means life in other words and that without water there is no life. Every living thing has right on water neither humans nor animals or plants, they all need water for survival. Let us stand for those who don't have access on clean water our voices can be heard and actions follow. |

Hello Ishimwe!
This report thoroughly shows your great interest in the importance of water.
Water is a very important matter for any creature on Earth to survive.
Without water, no creature will be able to survive. However, sometimes mankind forget about the necessities of clean water. Blinded by the immediate profit or comfort, we destroy environmental resources with clean water. I believe that this can be revised by actions that can gather people's attention about the severity of these problems.
Ast the report says
'Let us stand for those who don't have access on clean water our voices can be heard and actions follow.'
Thanks for the well wrtten report:)
