Years of the long struggle now paying off, we the people of Patna had started the protest two years back against the Forest Department of state government regarding the immoral act to just razing down the innocent tree to satisfy the greed in the name of development of the smart city and comfortable life. A total of 289 trees were cut down overnight between Gandhi Maidan and Patna High Court (Just 1.5km long way) to widen the roads. Every time the responsible authority of the state government darting there an ill and selfish motive behind the strong and illogical argument. But we faced it too smartly to just settle it down by starting a struggle with the responsible authority. We invited the students from different schools in the protest and offered Pindhdan that is last ritual for the dead tree friends to get the attention of the people, press, media and fortunately we succeed in it. We raised the voice through different news channels, print media and just asked the forest department to translocate the trees which are actually less than 50cm in diameter. This is a matter of great joy that after postponing it for more than two long years year, the State Forest Department has started to re-locate or trans-locate trees than chopping them down for widening roads and have translocated more than hundreds of tree to some other safe places. Special thanks to Vivek Singh (Indian Administrative Service), the then Principal Secretary and his team of forest department for swinging into action and without there help and support it would be impossible to achieve such a great success. |

Hello Rahul!
I am always inspired by those acts to save the environment!
And it is good to hear that no more trees are chopped down and are rather re-located or trans-located to new places. Thanks for sharing your great activities with us~
Keep up with your work!
Thanks!!

Hello Rahul, strong urge to save old trees!
It made me feel sad when I read down till the bottom, but thanks to a person in charge of Indian Administrative Service, the situation does not seem to fall down to the bad end.
And last 2 pics mean that new trees are planted instead of removed ones, right?
Keep up with your report :)
