Women Were Born to Create

Women should be recognized as climate change mitigation actors. The fact that, the majority of worldwide women are engaged in both informal and agriculture sector; should not be ignored. If we are really trying to address environmental issues uprooted, women have to become an important and centered part of the process.

These women in the informal and agriculture sector, they are mostly found in slum areas for those who live in urban areas where they don't have toilets, they don't have access to water; and others in rural areas where they are mostly food insecure, and they don't have access to health services, and so on. What they share in common is that most of them are home-based workers.

They need skills but as well as self-confidence. An important area which is very useful but we didn't realize that it's something that can be integrated in the process of addressing this issue is technological literacy. It is the main source of all environmental related information and global data system as we all know but which most of them don't know anything about. Access to digital world is a kind of empowerment to contribute on climate change mitigation, and ensuring their fully participation in the process.

The other issue is their productivity. Actually, they can't increase their productivity as well. There is a need to change that mindset that homes are just dwelling places, they are also workplaces especially for women and so when empower them in the essence of environmental concern, we are 90% on the right track to solve climate change challenges as well as bettering their living conditions and boosting their productivity.

Thinking of this, the only thing that should really be changed is for women's role in this movement to be considered as a crucial part of the process. I think that's the most important thing if we want to go towards climate change mitigation.

    Hello Ishimwe
This report brings upon an important issue to us about what we haven't been recognizing for a long time. Recognition will be the starting point for better and appropriate implementation of aids for women in this field. By doing so we would be able to contribute more in to the mitigation of climate change.
    Thanks for sharing!

Hello Ishimwe, there are a lot of people in the world who work hard for agriculture fields. However, we also do know the fact that most of them are women, too. It means they directly get affected by climate change and its successive phenomena that happen as time goes by.
As they might know what's going on their crops as years go by, it means climate change is something that they directly face, too.
Active performance is the most important motive-making action to start with, but making collective action is also another factor that leads us to group action toward anti-climate change!
Thanks for the nice report, it made me think of a lot of social factors!

    Hi Ishimwe!

You're so true in saying that women should be recognised at climate change mitigators as they are, especially in the agricultural industry.

Government should set programs where they can implant skills to the women of rural regions who are the front line of the environment and agricultural industry since our technological advancements has improved exponentially!

    Lovely report!
