Although environmental laws have been increasing awareness of and concern over issues impacting the entire world. Although environment laws are bound by principles of sustainable development, equity, public participation and transparency, environmental laws have been an source of controversy due to the debates over the necessity, fairness, cost and appropriatness of regulations.Nepal along with other 15 Asian nation have formed Asian Environmental Compilation and Enforcement Network (AECEN) dedicated to improve cooperation with environmental laws in Asia.
Kyoto Protocol is an international treaty which extends the 1992 United Nations Framework Convention On Climate Change (UNFCCC) that commits the state parties to reduce greenhouse gas. There are currently 192 parties to the protocol. The Kyoto Protocol implemented the objective of the UNFCCC to fight global warming by reducing greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere to "a level that would prevent dangerous anthropogenic interference with the climate system".
USA, a being a powerhouse of emission of GHGs haven't ratified the Kyoto Protocol along with withdrawal of Canada. Nepal only produces 0.027% of the GHGs whereas it has been the fourth vulnerable country interms of effect of climate change due to green house gases. There also a question of equality and environmental justice since major developed countries haven,t ratified the protocol There has been criticism in the flexibility of Kyoto Protocol. There has also been a critism saying no authoritative assessments of the UNFCCC or its protocol asserted that agreements will succeed in solving the climate problem.
With Climate Change and Global Warming emering as a major global threat which is caused due to Green Houses Gases and pollution, Kyoto Protocol is the ultimate protocol to be accepted by all the nation, so that they can reduce the amount of green house gases being produced their country and reduce the problems being created by them. |

Hello Kushal
Kyoto protocol surly was a turning point on climate issues which enlightened the world about cooperation needed to solve climate changes. However as the report also points out, it did have its lacking points with some nations being absent on the protocol. Still, taking this as a starting point, hope these kinds of international effort could keep on!
Thanks for the report :)

Hello Kushal, GHG-focused Kyoto Protocol is almost reaching 30 years though it was not mainly above environmental justice and active participation of developed countries. The initiatives and objectives of KP was truly turning point for conventional activities of countries against climate change. If it were like Montreal case, it must have made the world better off and far from current threats of climate change, but it is afraid that it did not go like that way.
Thanks for mentioning this issue again! Keep up with your work
