The Birth of a new International Environmental Law for Brazil and the World. |

With so many national environmental laws put into place for the safeguard of natural resources, countries have seen that it is not enough to just depend on national laws and legislation but to form coherent yet sound international laws, because truthfully, we all share this world and it is our responsibility to make sure that executive laws are set in place to protect even the most smalls of localities oppressed by injustice. With that being said, I would like to further elaborate on an issue that has been exponentially on the rise termed ?international environmental law?. Now, these are laws set in place as a standard for organisations, unions and even governments to establish and, moreover, manage natural resources and environment quality. The broad categories of ?natural resources? and ?environmental quality? include areas such as air and water (inland surface water, groundwater and marine water) pollution, forests and wildlife, hazardous waste, agricultural practices, wetlands, and land use planning. What?s great about these laws are that the standards set forth in environmental laws can apply to either private parties or the government. One example of laws that was executed to safeguard the environment, in particular forests, is Brazil?s Forest Law which aims to combating deforestation in the Amazon, while developing the region?s economic potential. The new law is also expected to help end illegal land occupation in the Brazilian Amazon through new measures that will provide for the demarcation of public forests. What?s fascinating about this law is that it started off as a basis for Brazil?s forest regulation as the Amazon Forest was suffering immensely from deforestation and illegal-gold-mining. But now is has gained basis recognition for which other countries may use to counteract similar issues. References: Vasquez, R. 2006. New forest law in Brazil helps save the Amazon. [Online]. Hi Joon!
Absolutely right, so many NGOs, and environmental organisations have really strived and prevailed in setting out laws for the betterment of our environment. This is another true testament to that.

Hello Rosa, deforestation and degrading level of biodiversity issue have been spotted for main problems within rain forest area of Amazon region. Though tons of trees are cut down and forest gets burnt down for each single minute, there has been a lot of collective activities led by social and environmental organizations such as WWF and others.
Thanks to them, and people like E-gen families, Brazil is paying attention to make successful environmental laws to protect them!

Hi Gyeongrin!
Yes, I completely concur and atleast this one adds to something that has shown results and manifested a change to the way forests should be protected.
Thank you!

Hello Rosa
The making of good laws is extremely important that it not only affects the current situation but sets a milestone to where we are heading to. Also as the report points out, it becomes an exemplar so that other who are facing similar situations can follow the preceding practice!
Thanks for the information :)
