Hi guys,
I'm sorry for being away this long, I was busy attending a leadership training program by Yali RLC West Africa Cohort5 this month of July. We went through different activities, post card presentation and different tours. One one the tours was the agric research at Songhai in Porto-novo, Benin Republic. Songhai is an organization that has set aside intergrated farming activities as well as processing and packaging of farm products and bio production. Their aim is to create a Zero waste community. We were shown different production layers of the Songhai and how they complement it other. At Songhai, nothing is considered a waste as livestock feeds were formulated in the farm and these components were grown right there in the farm. The waste product from livestock were gathered in grasses cut out from the farms and later disposed back into the farm to decompose and serve as manure. The waste water from the ponds are also put back into the farm as they are rich source of manure....so many other things I learnt and experience from my trip to Songhai, I'll surely take this back with me to Nigeria. |

Hello Alesandra
The trip to Songhai is really amazing! This Zero waste community concept of Songhai seems to shows us a way to our future, if more society leads this way, our environment could be saved from further destruction! It is really nice to share your meaningful experience within this platform!
Thanks for the report :)

Zero waste community, the concept is entirely praiseworthy

That is a great opportunity to be part of YALI. I have been rejected twice by YALI East Africa.
Thanks for sharing this.
