A new picnic area was launched, but is has something special. It is 100% eco. In a country where the picnics are o popular way for socializing and having fun during national days or holidays, this eco-picnic area  it is a must have.

"Pallet picnic Park" is the first 100% area of its kind in Romania. This eco-green is the result of the cooperation between the Association Eco-Rom Ambalaje and the Municipality of Tulcea County. Eco-Rom Ambalaje (ambalaje meaning pack) is an

organization that holds the license for the trademark Green Dot (Der Grune Punkt), having like main activities the recovery and recycling of packaging waste.

The eco-picnic spot has an area of 4,000 square meters and is located near Ciupercuta Lake in Tulcea city, almost near the swimming pools complex.

It has also garden furniture made entirely of wooden pallets modules. This space has an eco-waste management, using separate waste collection. More than that, this space can be used for environmental education classes. The space planning was done also in accordance with Law for Picnic number 54/2012.

Shortly this law says that the administration of the picnic areas must provide an equipment specially designed for picnic activities picnic, like containers for selective waste collection, labeled properly, and with eco-toilets they must ensure for the proper marking points for selective waste collection and to display, if necessarily, the rules for waste collection, with examples of the types of waste. They mustn?t allow the deforestation or changes in land area or of the water courses.  In other hand the people have some obligations:

Not washing articles that have served picnic activity in the waters adjacent to areas designated for picnic activities, or in other places suitable for picnic area.  Not permitted to feed wild animals. And also not to remove, hurt or destroy plants, animals, rocks or other elements of the natural and the anthrop environment. So no more post signs or messages on trees.

The cost for this area was around 15,000 Euros, money that were

offered by Tulcea Municipality., as the result of Tulcea city winning the title of "City Recycling" in the national competition with the same name, organized by the organization Eco-Rom Ambalaje, between 1 September 2012 and 28 February 2013. The competition featured 20 big cities in Romania, who were competing in the performance for collecting waste.

"Pallet picnic Park" is an good example of an extraordinary collaboration
between Government, public services and citizens. For now we wait the second edition of the battle for the title of "City Recycling 'organized by Eco-Rom Ambalaje, which would be help in the first part of  2014. The winner will be the city which will be collect the largest amount of  waste , in the corresponding garbage bin: general waste, metals, paper.
