What is 'One Health'? According to WHO 'One Health' is an approach to designing and implementing programs, policies, legislation and research in wahich multiple sectors communicate and work together to achieve better public health outcome. One Health is "the collaborative effort of multiple disciplines – working locally, nationally and globally – to attain optimal health for people, animals and the environment". One-Health is a novel approach employed in understanding how the diseases are shared among humans, animals and the environment. It is based on the understanding that the health of people is based on the health of the animals around them and the wholesomeness of the environment. In the wake of recent pandemic threats due to zoonosis such as the Ebola and Influenza A, scientists have acknowledged the need for collaboration among the physicians, veterinarians and the environmentalists/ecologist to better understand disease dynamic and thereby devise competent strategies to detect, prevent and control the spread of diseases across species. The One -Health approach seems imperative to curb one of the major challenges in the current world; that of emerging and re-emerging diseases of animal origin. According to the WHO and World Animal Health Organization (OIE), at least 75 percent of the emerging infectious diseases of humans have animal origin and 60 percent of the existing human infectious diseases are zoonotic in nature. Thus the main goal of the One-Health approach is to monitor, prevent and contain public health threats. Note: Go through every images below, they will povide you clear concept of One Health. |

Hello Deepak, as just Bharat said in his feedback, this is such a nice report to be written as the first report.
Integrated forms of approaches and thoughts are really important, and all those graphs and charts do tell us what 'one health' means to us.

Hello Deepak
The recent threats from zoonosis such as the Ebola really did alarm people about diseases and its prevention. To prevent diseases from spreading, an understanding of the type of its cause along with its symptoms should be preceded. And to effectively prevent it, a collaborative management of the overall sanitary system is needed!
Thanks for the nicely written report!

Hey Deepak!
The long awaited acknowledgement of scientists of various spectrums coming together to face this global issue is a noble approach! A better understanding of our surroundings, of fauna and flora and how all that integrates with mankind is such a big step into forming a universal system.
Great report Deepak!

Hi Deepak,
Such a well informative report. Successfully made us know how collective efforts of three different sectors can be helpful
and how seemingly trivial things can prove to be dangerous for life. Also, pictures made understanding much more clear.
Great report :)

Well reported Deepak! The definition mentioned about One Health really caught my eye. In my opinion the movement shields a wide range of problems the world is facing today. It is also reassuring to see how the approach has a main focus on prevention of diseases that are zootical in nature. The pictures posted also contribute to the report very much! ^^
