The National Forest Resources Monitoring and Assesmentof Tanzania(NAFORMA) was lauched in 2009 to provide an accurate picture of the Nation's woody resources for targeted policy development and inventions .NARFORMA marks the biggest effort by a developing nation to map all of its forests and trees-outside the forest(TOF)resources.
NARFOMA data will be used to manage the national forest resources in amore sustainable manner and to optimize the long term broad benefits including economics, social and environmental gains from the trees and forest resources. It also contributes to the International reporting requirements.
NARFOMA was conducted by the Tanzania Forest Services Agency (TFS) under Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism(MNRT) in collaboration with the Government of Finland and Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations(FAO)during the period of 2009-2013as a project and will be maintained as an insitutional task under (TFS)
