Hi everyone, as you all might be already aware of the fact that we are going to celebrate the 10th of December 2018 as the World Day for Human Rights, I have started a campaign a campaign to declared the "Right to a Healthy Environment" as an inalienable, absolute, sacrosanct, universal, and fundamental human right. We, the human beings, depend on the environment from dawn till dusk. A safe, clean, healthy and sustainable environment is intrinsic to the complete enjoyment of a wide range of human rights, including the rights to life, health, food, water and sanitation. Hence, in the absence of a healthy environment, the minimum standards of human dignity and social welfare will remain unmet. Although in recent years, the recognition of the links between human rights and the environment has greatly increased and the number and scope of international and domestic laws, judicial decisions, and academic studies on the relationship between human rights and the environment have grown rapidly, yet we still DO NOT have any official UN document recognising the "Right to Healthy Environment" as a Universal and Inalienable Human Right. It's basically implicit in the many special reports and commissions but an official acknowledgement will make it more significant and can stop parties from deliberately disregarding the cause of the Environment, now when we're on the brink of fiasco and peril due to climate change. Hence, I call for all the human beings, regardless of age, sex, caste, creed, citizenship to join me in winning a formal recognition for "Right to Healthy Environment" as a "fundamental, universal, Inalienable, absolute, and sacrosanct" human right. This will ensure that everyone treats any and every issue related to the Environment with utmost importance and grave seriousness, and thus, gives collective, conscious, consistent, and competent efforts to protect and preserve the environment both for the present and the posterity. Kindly show your support for the green cause and sign the petition here : https://www.change.org/p/youth-get-formal-un-recognition-for-right-to-healthy-environment-as-a-fundamental-human-right?recruiter=918274437&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=copylink&utm_campaign=tap_basic_share |

Hello Ananya, as I said in my feedback under Deepak's recent reports, tangible and accountable values are not the sole values for us and our environment. But unfortunately, it is not something ideologically admitted or publicly known thought for everyone. Many regional and national projects aim to build up more buildings and establish economic development, apart from basic enhancement for human rights and survival (especially for the people who are threatened to face death everyday, everytime).
Concerning the basic human rights, environmental cleanliness and security are in a desperate need to get included, but we are still far from this.
Thanks for sharing your thought about this issue to the public!

Hello Ananya
'Right to healthy' environment surely does seem to be a value that should be recognized.
It will mean the equal access to necessary environmental resources so that no beings would suffer for survival. By recognizing the right, at the same time, we would be responsible for the protection of the environment!
Thanks for the report :)
