TAIWAN AND AGRICULTURE 4.0

by Elizaveta Zaretskaya | 16-12-2018 15:35 recommendations 1

Hi everyone! My name is Lisa Zaretskaya. I would like to draw your attention to my report related to TAIWAN AND AGRICULTURE 4.0.

Taiwan has in the past been synonymous with electrical components, but a growing revolution in agriculture is set to give the island a new area of influence in the global economy.

What is Agriculture 4.0? Agriculture 4.0 refers to systems that employ drones, robotics, Internet of Things (IoT), vertical farms, artificial intelligence (AI), and solar energy. Through the integration of digital technology into farming practices, companies are able to increase yields, reduce costs, experience less crop damage and minimize water, fuel and fertilizer usage. So, imagine a farm not unlike what exists across the world today, but with increased automation and smart technologies that are able to detect the needs of crops and deliver those necessities automatically.

Components of Agriculture 4.0

1) IoT sensors, 2) semiconductors, 3) robotics and AI, 4) drones, 5) solar technology, 6) lighting / LED, 7) aquaponics and hydroponics, 8) vertical farming and greenhouse.

Nearly all of the skills and components needed for Agriculture 4.0 can be found in Taiwan, a place that although small in size, boasts the largest number of electrical engineers per capita in the world. Taiwan produces 25% of the world¡¯s semiconductors and is a manufacturer for most of the sensors used in IoT and smart farming projects. It is also a major player in robotics, drones and the global leader in solar cells.

Thank you for your attention.

Hello Elizaveta, someone in our E-gen family introduced smart farming a few days ago and now I get to know more about this notion. Taking advantages of traditional farming methods into the modernized platforms and technologies, synergy effect is definitely expected :)
However, taking the control of a large farmland with automatic and artificial system with monoculture can trigger the lack of diversity of crops in the globe.
There might be some more problems or unexpected shortages that we did not expect, but such a brand new notion of modernized concept of farming is systematically controllable, so I think we can react to it when it arises possibly!
Thanks for your report, special thanks to introducing such a brand-new topic to us!

    Hello Elizaveta
    Namaste, hope you are fine

Wow, Taiwan is far advanced in Agriculture technology, thank you so much for sharing about this article,
I hope one day we in Nepal also can see such advance technology in agriculture.
Thank you for the report :)

    Hello Liza!
It is true that the state of the art technology could be used in many parts of our agricultural field. Yesterday, I was doing my studies in a near cafe and found myself listening to a pair of professors who were talking about the application of Iot sensors on smart farming. I was used to hearing about smart factories as representatives of the current 4the industrial revolution as that is part of my major but was quite amazed that the exact techniques could be applied to agricultural fields! Hope more advancement could turn up!
    Thanks for the report :)

    Hey there 'Liza!

I remember an article about technological advancement that your had posted a while back and I like how it blends into this article on agriculture.

Honestly, the thought of having technology positively affecting crop yields and providing aid in the effective utilisation of fertiliser is just Groundbreaking.

I really look forward to your next report!
    Yours sincerely
    R
